Not Yet Arrived was begun during Christmas 2023 and completed in 2024. The work was carved and printed from twenty-five individual 30 × 30 cm wooden blocks, then assembled into a single image measuring 154 × 154 cm. It depicts two children holding paper pinwheels as they look up at fireworks: the fireworks burst across the night sky while the pinwheels remain still in their hands, bringing looking and movement, expectation and suspension, into the same image. The fireworks can be understood as a brief appearance of desire and fulfilment—they reach a visual climax in an instant, then rapidly disappear. The paper pinwheel, by contrast, resembles a wish held in the hand, able to turn only with the help of an external wind. The two children are not the centre of the image but viewers positioned before an immense spectacle. What they look at is not only the fireworks, but also a moment that cannot be preserved or truly possessed.
